DISTRICT OF PORT HARDY
PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION

This is a voluntary advisory commission that makes recommendations to Council on such matters that are within the scope of parks and recreation and on items referred to them from time to time by Council.  Another primary function of the  Commission is to undertake, on an ongoing basis, a study and review of the development and future planning of the parks and recreation program.  Governed by District of Port Hardy Bylaw05-2009 the Commission is made up of nine members consisting of one member of Council and eight others from the community at large - with one being a youth representative.  At least six of the members must be residents of Port Hardy.  Meetings are  generally held monthly depending on issues.  The Community Coordinator attends as staff resource.

The Commission meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month(excluding July and August) at 7:00 pm at the Municipal Hall.
 
For 2010 the meeting dates are: January 19, February 16, March 16, April 20,  May 18, June 15 (no meeting July and August) September 21, October 19, November 16, December - no meeting scheduled.
