Garbage Regulation Bylaw 12-2009
GARBAGE DISPOSAL
The District of Port Hardy is responsible for garbage pickup and disposal in our community and has contracted these services to Fox's Disposal. Our current garbage bylaw allows 2 cans per residence and you can purchase extra garbage tags as needed from the Municipal Hall.

Household Goods Good quality clothing and household goods may be recycled to the following non-profit organizations: P.H. Womens Hospital Auxiliary - 8720 Main Strteet - call 949-7013 for hours of operation. P.H. Harvest Food Bank - 7120 Market Strteet - call 902-0332 for hours of operation RECYCLING BINS Curling Club parking lot (at Storey's Beach) Civic Centre parking lot
• One bin for cardboard and box board; second bin for mixed waste paper, newspapers & flyers, glossy magazines & catalogues, and milk jugs (no milk cartons) and #1 - #7 plastics
• Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week • No cost for this service
YARD WASTE The District of Port Hardy has expanded its recycling efforts to include a depot for yard waste. Where: Located right outside the Public Works Yard Hours: 24 hours a day - 7 days a week
YOU CAN DISPOSE OF: Grass and hedge clippings - flowers and leaves - garden waste (no food products) - branches & tree prunings (up to 50mm or 2" in diameter) and cut to 1.5 m / 4.5 ft long
Please pile branches separately for recycling purposes
The Depot does not take: wood over 2" in diameter - wood chips - stumps / roots - soil or rocks
Please take any plastic bags or receptacle used for dumping with you.

Winter hours 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm Tuesday, Saturday & Sunday Tel: 250-949-6306
- The Transfer Station accepts residential, construction and houselold waste for a small drop-off fee.
- Metal waste such as tin cans will be accepted at no charge.
- Fee charged $10-$15 for household appliances (fridge/stove/washer/dryer)
No commercial waste drop off will be available at this location.

| 7 MILE REGIONAL SOLID WASTE Monday to Friday 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Saturday 10:00 am - 3:00 pm Tel: 250-949-1681 7 Mile Landfill, the regional solid waste disposal site, is located approximately 7 miles south of Port Hardy on Highway 19. Onsite is a Re-Use Salvage Yard.
