MUNICIPAL VOLUNTEER POSITIONS -Volunteer positions may be available on:

Parks and Recreation Commission

This is a voluntary advisory commission that makes recommendations to Council on such matters that are within the scope of parks and recreation and on items referred to them from time to time by Council. Another primary function of the Commission is to undertake, on an ongoing basis, a study and review of the development and future planning of the parks and recreation program. The Commission is made up ofnine members consisting of one member of Council and eight others from the community at large - with one being a youth representative. At least six of the members must be residents of Port Hardy. Meetings are generally held monthly depending on issues. The Economic Development & Community Coordinator attends as staff resource.

Joint Advisory Planning/Harbour Commission

The Joint Advisory Planning Harbour Commission is a voluntary advisory Commission that makes recommendations to Council on matters pertaining to land use, community planning, proposed bylaws and permits as well as harbour operations and related items referred to them by Council from time to time.  The Commission is made up of eleven members (one Councillor and ten citizens from the community at large).  Meetings are generally held monthly depending on issues and the Director of Corporate Services and/or the Municipal Building Inspector attend as staff resource.
