Port Hardy has two elementary schools (K-7) and one high school (8-12), in addition to these schools is the Eke Me-Xi Learning Center (8-12) all within School District 85 - Vancouver Island North.
The Municipality also has four independent schools in the area, including Avalon Adventist Jr. Academy and elementary schools run by the Kwakiutl, Gwa'sala-'Nakwaxda'xw and Quatsino First Nations.
Port Hardy Secondary School
Located in Port Hardy, the Mount Waddington Regional Campus of North Island College (NIC) offers distance and scheduled academic, career, and part-time vocational courses. Scheduled instruction is also offered via Interactive Television (ITV) that provides an opportunity for local students to enrol and interact in classroom studies being provided from a distant location. Other services include a science lab for the delivery of biology and chemistry courses, a computer lab, and a library.
